The Military Minute is a project developed by Sean Farley as a way to honor and narrate the stories of past and present military members. Working to ensure that history is preserved, shared, and celebrated. Through storytelling, emphasize the importance of understanding military sacrifices, fostering empathy, and preventing future conflicts while bridging the gap between veterans and civilians.
Understanding the Military-Civilian Divide
Over the decades, the percentage of the U.S. population serving in the military has significantly decreased. From 11% during WWII to a mere 1% today, this reduction has led to a widening gap between those who have served and civilians. The lack of personal or familial military experience for many means there's limited understanding or appreciation of the sacrifices, experiences, and challenges faced by those in the military.
Preservation of History and Stories
With each passing year, many stories of valor, sacrifice, and perseverance fade away. First-hand accounts from veterans, particularly from older conflicts, are invaluable.
